This section of the website will feature additional information about Nick's Print releases, how they came about, what problems were encountered and loads of other details. I thought it only natural to begin right at the beginning - with Nick's very first Limited Edition Print for the Military Gallery way back in October 1991!
No 1 "HOT PURSUIT"

Well you have to start somewhere and I still remember arriving home from work to see a Military Gallery mail shot on my doormat. I was a bit surprised as I had been sent one the previous week, so I opened it with no great aspirations. I was confronted with the wonderful image of "Hot Pursuit" and the name Nicolas Trudgian! What struck me immediately was the superb design concept, vivid colours and very high accuracy. I was hooked immediately and I was not the only one! Taking a chance [!!], I ordered a Remarqued copy straight away and, in doing so, also discovered that he was a brilliant pencil artist!
How did this all come about? Well Nick had already produced some work for the Military Gallery but it was finally decided that Nick should have the opportunity of having a 'proper' Signed Limited Edition Release. It was further agreed that, for commercial reasons, the P-51D Mustang would be the most suitable subject, especially for the American market. Nick originally painted Don Strait's aircraft "Jersey Jerk" from the 356th FG, but this was then changed to 'Chuck' Yeager's "Glamorous Glennis III". [Nick made up for this eventually by painting "Jersey Jerk" in his superb release "Ace of Diamonds"!]. Believe it or not, this P-51D changed again when Yeager couldn't sign to become 'Kit' Carson's "Nooky Booky IV". Nick had also included four Me109G's diving through in an attempt to get at the US heavies. This allowed the print to be Signed by Aces from both sides. As it was, shortly after the release of 'Hot Pursuit' 'Kit' Carson sadly passed away.......
When the finished painting was shown to the publishers they suggested that Nick put in some more 'little' fighters and bombers. Nick was aware that, to return to his own studio and undertake this work would take quite some time. He needn't have worried. Recognising his predicament Robert Taylor invited Nick to use HIS Studio, which was a lot closer. So, 'Hot Pursuit', the First Limited Edition Print of Nicolas Trudgian was actually finished in the Studio of Robert Taylor using Robert's Easel and paints!!!!
As a concept, 'Hot Pursuit' is NOT typical of Nick's work as it is set at high altitude. Collectors would have to wait until his next release to start to appreciate that this new artist excelled at landscapes..........
