  Trudgian Trains

TRUDGIAN TRAINS.

Look out for some exciting news very shortly for Train enthusiasts of Nick's work!!!!

Nick is best known for his Aviation subjects but many have noticed that, on a number of occasions, Nick has managed to 'sneak' a train into his latest paintings !

"Summer of 44"

Multi Signed Edition

summer 44

The Southern coasts of Britain had become, by the Summer of 1944, hives of activity. It was here that the monumental preparations for great invasion of Europe were coming to fruition. While the whole South of England was being turned into a vast Army Camp, the Allied air forces continued their necessary work - the 'softening up' of targets in France. 10 Group's Spitfire Wing, led by the Battle of Britain veteran Wing Commander Pete Brothers, was based at Culmhead and was heavily involved in shipping patrols and low- level strikes of opportunity. Nick's lovely scene shows the Spitfire IX's of 126 Squadron returning from yet another patrol, sweeping over a local Branch railway line where a GWR 'Prairie' Engine pulls out of the Station. An evocative scene of Britain in the final few days before D-Day.

This print was released by the Military Gallery in September 2000 as part of Nick's Millenium Series and is yet another example of him 'squeezing in' a classic steam train! This is a presentation copy on which I have gathered the following amazing signatures celebrating the Royal Air Force's contribution to Operation Overlord:
