"WINTER COMBAT"

One of Nick's special releases, 'Winter Combat' portrays the winter camouflaged Fw190A of Hannes Trautloft - the guiding hand and spiritual leader of the famous JG54 'Greenhearts' Geschwader. The Russian front had always been brutal of aircraft and crews alike but, with the arrival of the Fw190, the Luftwaffe received a much tougher machine that the Bf109's they were used to flying. The Fw190 also packed a much heavier punch and this gave it an advantage when engaging armoured Soviet aircraft such as the IL-2. Nick's superb study shows Trautloft's Fw190 after engaging Petlyakov Pe-2 bombers over a lovely snowscape. The edition comes double-matted with the original signature of Hannes Trautloft and his portrait in pencil.

This edition is becoming very difficult to acquire

"SNOW WARRIORS"

Multi-Signed Remarque Edition

This fabulous recent edition by Nick Trudgian features the Focke Wulf 190A's of JG54 "Grunhertz" on the Eastern Front. The Green Hearts Fighter Wing were to prove the greatest exponent of Kurt Tank's tough little fighter on the Eastern Front - all of their top 'experten' scoring the majority of their kills with the 190. Aces of the calibre of Walter Nowotny, Emil 'Bully' Lang and Erich Rudorffer scoring multiple kills in the type. It was their 'quiet NCO' though who finally came out on top - Otto Kittel's 267 victories, the majority gained against the tough IL-2, made him the top Fw190 ace of the war! Nick Trudgian has depicted some JG54 190's departing their snow-bound airfield of Krasnogvadeisk in 1943, their propeller washes kicking up snow as they taxi for take off.

THIS IS A MULTI-SIGNED REMARQUED COPY

THE SIGNATURES ARE:

Major Erich RUDORFFER - JG54

Major Hans-ekkehard BOB - JG54

Richard PERLIA - Luftwaffe Test pilot

This superb Remarque shows Nowotny's 'white 1' on approach.....

"Storm Chasers"

Multi Signed Edition

Storm Chasers

Of the many aircraft flown by the Luftwaffe during WW2, none had a finer reputation than Kurt Tank's Focke Wulf 190. Compact, strong and packing a tremendous punch, the Fw190, in its many versions, was used as a fighter, Fighter-bomber, night intruder and even night fighter. When it appeared in 1941 the Fw190 was superior to all Allied fighters. Whether battling the extreme cold on the Eastern Front, or the tremendous US Bomber raids of 1944, it proved itself to be the best piston engined fighter fielded by the Luftwaffe. Constantly upgraded, the later Fw190D-9 and the Ta152 were the ultimate in propeller driven design. The great Chuck Yeager, who had the opportunity of flying most Axis fighter at the end of the war, stated that "Only the Fw190 was in the same league as the Mustang". Praise indeed! Nick's painting depicts the colourful striped cowl Fw190A's of JG1 scrambling from Dortmund airfield to intercept another Bombing raid. Below, the dedicated Bomber Destroyers of Sturm Staffel 1 prepare to enter the fray. They would pave the way for the Sturm Gruppe Units created later in the year. A wonderful tribute to one of the most formidable warplanes ever built.

This is, in my opinion, one of the best prints depicting the Fw190 Fighter. It looks particularly aggressive with the Black & White striped cowl of JG1. Nick wanted to really get close to this aircraft and he decided to paint it on take-off, something which had not been tried before. This is a Multi Signed copy with superb extra signatures:

The Signatures

Oberst Hajo HERMANN - Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords

Hajo Hermann is one of the few German airman to have flown as both a Bomber and Fighter Pilot. Initially trained as a Bomber pilot flying Ju88s Hermann served in the Battle of Britain and then against the Arctic Convoys. Later in the war he thought up the 'Wilde Sau' night fighter tactics, which were used as a successful interim measure after the RAF deployed the radar jamming 'Window'. Flying both Me190G and Fw190A fighters, he scored 9 Victories at night.

Oberleutnant Ernst SCHEUFELE

Scheufele served with JG5 'Eismeer', initially in Norway carrying out escort missions for the large German surface fleet, including Tirpitz. He was one of the first Pilots to get his hands on a Fw190 on the Eastern Front, then flying with II/JG5. Scheufele was transferred to the West in June 1944 to combat the Allied landings. He was shot down in December 1944 and taken prisoner. Ernst Scheufele scored 18 Victories.

Leutnant Hugo BROCH - Knights Cross

Hugo Broch served his entire career with JG54 - the famous Green Hearts Geschwader - on the Eastern front. Flying as a wingman to the great Horst Adameit (166 Victories) and 'Bazi' Sterr (130 Victories) he soon demonstrated his own skill whilst flying the Fw190. He eventually scored 81 Victories and was awarded the Knights Cross.

Oberleutnant Walter WOLFRUM - Knights Cross

Walter Wolfrum joined the 5th Staffel of JG52 in Ferbruary 1942, which was at that time commanded by the famous 'Macky' Steinhoff. He flew his first combat missions over the Cuban Bridgehead in March but did not score his first victory until June. After this he continued to score victories at an increasing rate, his most successful day - 30th May 1944 - claiming 11 Victories. It was after this that he was transferred to Romania to combat US Bombers attacking the oil targets - and encountering the P-51 Mustang escorts. He flew as wingman to the great 'experte' Gerd Barkhorn and, by wars end, had amassed a total of 137 Victories in 423 Missions - 119 of these were against fighters! To achieve this he had been wounded four times and made 12 emergency landings. He was awarded the Knights Cross.

Oberleutnant Walter SCHUCK - Knights Cross with Oak Leaves

Walter Schuck served on the Eastern Front for much of his career with JG5 'Eismeer' and was a rapid scorer. He reached the 100 victory mark in June 1944 and continued to score relentlessly pushing his victories well beyond the 150 mark. In early 1945, Schuck transferred to the West to fly the Messerschmitt 262 jet fighter with JG7. He found the aircraft to his liking a shot down 8 aircraft, thus becoming a jet 'Ace'. Walter Schuck flew some 500 missions and scored 206 Victories. He was awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves.

Major Gunther Rall - Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords

Gunther Rall is the world's highest scoring, living, ace. Initially flying with JG52 in the Battle of Britain, he transferred to the Russian Front where his victories started to mount. Despite suffering a broken back, Rall recovered to fly and fight again. Serving at the great Battle of Kursk, he later transferred to the West where he was shot down by P-47's of Zemke's wolfpack - 56th FG! At the end of the war Gunther Rall headed JG300 flying the Fw190D-9. He scored a total of 275 Victories, placing him third in the all time list. Rall had a distinguished career in the post - war Luftwaffe and NATO.

Oberfeldwebel Willi RESCHKE - Knights Cross

Reschke was one of the most outstanding of the new crop of German fighter pilots who had to fight in the last years of the war. Joining JG301 and flying the Fw190A, Reschke became adept at attacking and destroying US four engine heavies in the hectic and extremely dangerous skies over Germany in 1944. In 1945 Reschke transferred to the Stab of JG301 and it was here that he flew the last of the Focke Wulf family of fighters - the Ta 152. Very few of these aircraft reached Units but Reschke shot down 3 aircraft in his Ta152H, including a Hawker Tempest. Reschke scored a total of 26 Victories - all in the West and was awarded the Knights Cross.

Feldwebel Heinz RADLAUER

Heinz Radlauer joined the Luftwaffe in 1941 and was posted to JG51 'Molders' on the Eastern Front. He initially flew the Me109G and Fw190A and, at the end of the war, the superb Fw190D-9. It was in this fighter that he eluded the Spitfire XIV's of 41 Squadron who bounced his section over lake Schwerin. Heinz Radlauer was awarded the Iron Cross I & II and scored 15 Victories, all on the Eastern Front.

Leutnant Alfred AMBS

Alfred Ambs was initially attached to a training Unit and flew Ju88s, Me110's, Me109 and Fw190 aircraft. As the war situation worstened, Ambs was transferred to train on the new Messerschmitt 262 fighter with JG7. Flying with this Unit Ambs shot down 6 Allied aircraft to finish the war a Jet 'Ace'.

Unteroffizier Gustav DREES

Gustav Drees was posted to the eastern Front in 1942, where he flew the Me109 with JG54 'Green Hearts'. In early 1943 he switched to the Fw190A. He was posted to JG108 in Austria for the remainder of the war, Drees scoring 4 Victories.

Unteroffizier Gunther KOLB

Joining the Luftwaffe very late in the war, Gunther Kolb was posted to JG5 'Eismeer' in 1944, flying the Me109 and Fw190A on shipping patrols in Norway. Kolb scored a total of 5 Victories.

Feldwebel Ernest GIEFING

Ernest Giefing flew with JG2 'Richthofen' and achieved 6 victories. He was then transferred to JG7 to fly the Messerschmitt 262 fighter, where he scored two further victories - both B-17 flying Fortresses. His total score was 8 Victories.

Fahnrich Manfred LEISEBEIN

Joining the Luftwaffe at the age of 18, Manfred Leisebein was posted to 3rd Staffel JG 52 on the Eastern Front in 1943, where he was commanded by the great Erich Hartmann. Flying the Me109G throughout his career, Leisebein scored a total of 5 Victories before wars end, all with JG52. He was awarded the Iron Cross II.
