Anton WEHINGER Heer Knights Cross Signed Card

Wehinger won his Knights Cross while serving with Grenadier Regiment 578 in Italy.

In December 1944 he led his Unit in the defence of a ridge against all Allied efforts to dislodge him. The fighting then erupted for the small village of Pideura, which was initially lost by the Germans but regained through counterattack. The Allies then pummelled the village with massive artillery fire and took it once again with the aid of Tank support. Wehinger's Unit conducted a pincer attack which succeeded in pushing back the enemy, Wehinger himself knocking out an Allied Tank with a Panzerfaust.

Wehinger was wounded during the action but awarded the Knights Cross on 9th January 1945.

This is a very nice Signed Card in Blue Pen.
