BALLOON BUSTER By Robert Taylor
Released way back in 1998, 'Balloon Buster' was an exceptionally rare foray into a World War One subject by Robert Taylor and features the most famous British fighter of the 'Great' war - the Sopwith Camel.
On August 29th 1918 Flight Lieutenant Henry Botterell of 208 Squadron flew a sortie near Arras in Northern France. He spotted a German Observation balloon and, circling around, made an effective firing pass, setting the balloon on fire. The German observer took to his parachute and, as Botterell passed the burning balloon, he chivalrously waved to his opponent.
