This is a rare opportunity to acquire a copy of this print. 'Night Hunters' was published as a companion print to the 1993 Print release 'Eagles out of the sun', which is now one of Robert Taylor's most sought-after Editions.
'Night Hunters' featues the Luftwaffe's deadliest night fighter of WW2, flown by virtually ALL of the top scoring 'Aces' at night. The Messerschmitt Bf110 originally saw action as a 'Zerstorer' or 'Destroyer' in the early campaigns of WW2. However it was quickly outclassed by single-engined fighters in daylight. By chance, the Luftwaffe realised that RAF Bombers, now making nocturnal raids, needed to be intercepted at night and looked for a suitable twin-engine design to take on the Night Fighter role - the Me110 was ideal. And so it proved - the highest scoring night fighter pilot of WW2 - Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer - scored ALL of his 121 victories in the Me110!!
This wonderfully evocative Print features the Me110G's of III/NJG1 led by 'G9+WD' the personal aircraft of top 'Ace' Oberleutnant Martin DREWES, Gruppenkommandeur of III/NJG1. The Sun is setting and soon the fighters will begin their hunt in darkness.
