Erich Topp was one of the most decorated U-boat commanders of WW2. In total he sank 35 ships grossing over 197,000 tons.

He commanded the U-57 and then the famous U-552 before later commanding the U-3010 and U-2513.

He later served in the Post-War German Navy finally retiring in 1969.

Topp died in 2005.
