THE DEBDEN EAGLES - ORIGINAL PENCIL DRAWING BY NICOLAS TRUDGIAN
In the annuls of the 8th Air Force the exploits of the 4th Fighter Group are legendary, the Unit being created out of the 'Eagle Squadrons' that had served with the RAF.
The 4th FG were based at Debden and were the first to fly missions over German airspace.
Among the many 'Aces' that flew with the 'Debden Eagles' none were more famous than the famed 'double act' of Don Gentile and his wingman John Godfrey. Together they made a winning Team, accounting for an astounding 58 aircraft destroyed!
Nicolas Trudgian's superb drawing features the P-51B's of Gentile and Godfrey flying out for yet another mission against the Luftwaffe. The Drawing is on A3 Paper and has been Signed by the 4th FG's legendary Commanding Officer:-
