This Rossbach Cover No64 is Signed by FIVE highly decorated Luftwaffe Kampflieger veterans:-
OBERSTLEUTNANT HERMANN HOGEBACK - KNIGHTS CROSS WITH OAK LEAVES & SWORDS
One of the leading personalities of the Luftwaffe Bomber arm, Hogeback served with the 'Condor Legion' during the Spanish Civil War. He flew with LG1 during the Battle of Britain and also saw action during the North African campaign and the attacks on Malta. Transferred to Russia, he saw the Battle for the city of Stalingrad, flying many sorties. In June 1943 he became Kommodore of KG6 and took part in raids on the British isles, before returning to the Med and later the Normandy Invasion front. Hogeback flew 585 sorties!
OBERST HANS HENNING FREIHERR VON BEUST - KNIGHTS CROSS WITH OAK LEAVES
Von Beust served with the 'Condor Legion' in Spain before joining KG27 flying the He111 during the Battle of Britain. He later served on the Eastern Front and became Kommodore of KG27 for the last years of the war. He flew over 500 sorties, 80 over Britain.
OBERSTLEUTNANT KLAUS NOSKE - KNIGHTS CROSS
Noske was a StaffelKapitan in I./KG4 'General Wever' at the outbreak of war in 1939. He flew in the Polish campaign, the Norway and finally France and the Low Countries. He then flew during the Battle of Britain with KG4, which operated a mixture of types - He111, Do17-Z and Ju88A. He later served in Russia and completed 212 sorties.
MAJOR HERBERT WITTMANN - KNIGHTS CROSS WITH OAK LEAVES
Another pilot that cut their teeth serving with the 'Condor Legion' in Spain, Wittmann served with KG53 flying the He111 bomber over France and also the Battle of Britain. He later flew in Russia and amassed over 500 sorties.
LEUTNANT HERBERT KUNTZ - KNIGHTS CROSS
Kuntz served with KG26 and later the 'Pathfinder' Unit KG100 flying He111's. He flew during the Battle of Britain before transferring to the Mediterranean and North Africa. He later flew in Russia - his final sortie count was 366.
