LIGHTNING ENCOUNTER - DOUBLE REMARQUE
Released back in 1995 'Lightning Encounter' features the rare P-38's of the 9th Air Force, whose primary role during the Invasion of France in 1944 was ground-attack. The P-38 Lightning was perfect for this role as it had two engines and considerable firepower. In addition, with it's bombs or ordinance gone, it could still dogfight with any Luftwaffe fighters that appeared.
German 'Kriegslok' locomotives were designed and built to haul armaments and supplies to the German armed forces all over occupied Europe and, as such, were primary targets for marauding Allied Fighter-Bombers.
Nick has portrayed the P-38 Lightnings of the 370th Fighter Group - complete with their D-Day stripes - as they attack a German 'Kriegslok' wending it's way through the hills of Northern France - the viaduct showing signs of previous damage from the French Resistance. The P-38's have already scored hits and the train will be lucky to survive this encounter.
The Print is signed by FOUR highly distinguished pilots that flew the P-38 in Europe:-
CAPTAIN LARRY BLUMER - 367th FG
LIEUTENANT COLONEL JOSEPH A. DOBROWOLSKI - 367th FG
1st LIEUTENANT ROBERT C. MILLIKEN - 474th FG
COLONEL DICK WILLSIE - 82nd FG
This is a VERY RARE Double Remarque!
The Print comes with the CoA.
